My Story in creating the Awaken Your Monastic Muse through
Creative Contemplation

. It was from prayer and simply God told me to
create the group. This is how I work both in forming my groups and in my own
art... I believe in daily guidance and stay open to the Inner Voice in all that
I do. It has been a practice from my first experience of meditation at 19. I
also worked as an intuitive counselor before I started teaching but am still
very close to my intuition within the work that I do today… .
.
The other reason is I met Dana through the online class that
I took from her Book of Wonderment which I found amazing! I loved the way that
her class used image, writing, reflection, and deep inner work as well as
creativity to initiate my own Monastic Self. Shortly after that I wrote The
Monastic Self and started using it in my own meditations…

I heard Christine talking about her own
history and the book on a podcast Art and Soul Radio. What she said spoke to
me. I was raised by nuns and the Catholic in a very crazy home life. The nuns
were my stability and I even wanted to become one when I was 15. I am still that same little Catholic girl and
have always felt connected to the deep mystical aspect of that religion. I also
have a love for Mary and the feminine
face of God….anyway what she said inspired me to purchase her book The
Artist’s Rule which when I read spoke to both the spiritual self and the artist
in me. Shortly after that I put together a face book group based on her book…

I have integrated
creativity and journaling with other books including Women Who Run with the
Wolves and The Mandala Workbook. It is something that I use a great deal in my
Women of Wisdom groups… When Dana announced her book Ink and Honey and that she
had a group on Face book I immediately went to it because I was excited to be a
part of a discussion. It was than that I found out that she did not have a
discussion group except in her retreats so I asked her if she would allow me to
create a discussion group. She said it was ok and I put it on events having no
idea what would happen… That is how things happen and how Good works and so
here we are…
